5 Things to Love about Fort Wilderness Resort

1. Chip 'n' Dales Campfire Sing Along.

Every night (times vary based on the season) Chip 'n' Dale arrive prior to Movies Under the Stars to sing and dance along to old-time favorites sung live by a guitar playing cowboy. You can bring your own marshmallows and sticks or purchase a s'mores kit. at the Chuck Wagon. I was surprised to see the menu at The Chuck Wagon actually had quite a few selections; burgers, hot dogs, french fries, chicken nuggets, salad, Mickey pretzels and beer, wine and cocktails for the adults. You could make it a whole evening!

2. Rent a golf cart.

One of our favorite things about our entire trip was driving and riding around in the golf cart around Fort Wilderness! We used it instead of the internal bus system to get to the Outpost Depot to catch a bus to Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, the Settlement Depot to take a boat to the Magic Kingdom and then the Meadow Depot to visit the Meadow Swimmin' Pool and Arcade. There is an additional daily charge but it was so much fun and convenient! We fit 4 adults and 2 kids plus a stroller each day!

3. Magic Kingdom fireworks

From the Settlement Depot dock you can watch and hear the music of each nights fireworks display. So even if you want to beat the crowds and head back for the night you don't have to miss the show!

4. Relaxing Boat rides

From the Settlement Depot there are two boat routes. The green flag boat takes you directly to the Magic Kingdom. The blue flag boat travels between Fort Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge and the Contemporary resorts. We had breakfast at Chef Mickey's so we took the boat to The Contemporary then the monorail to Epcot for the day. It was wonderful and relaxing with the breeze and scenery going thru Bay Lake.

5. Cabins and camper decorations.

Our cabin was fantastic. Just the right amount of space for my family and my in laws. We had a full kitchen, deck with a grill and picnic bench, our own parking spot (for the golf cart!) and bunk beds for the boys. Plus on our golf cart rides to Settlement or Meadow Depot we would check out all the decorations at the campsites. Some people stay for weeks so they really go all out!
