Did you know that many of the attractions at Universal Orlando do not allow you to carry on a backpack or even loose items? Unlike at Walt Disney World where they have pouches to store small items and allow you to bring on a backpack Universal's policy is much more strict. Course this will all change when Tron Lightcycle Run opens in a few weeks. That attraction will have a no bag policy and lockers similar to Universal that will be opened by your Magic Band or park ticket. But let's focus on Universal's lockers for now!
Attractions at Universal are broken down into two categories: those that allow you to wear a fanny or waist bag and those that don't.
ALL items must be stored: You will go thru a metal detector. No cell phones, keys or wallets. You may wear a lanyard with your park ticket tucked into your shirt.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
The Incredible Hulk Coaster
Jurassic World Velocicoaster
Fanny packs or waist bags are allowed: The bag MUST be worn around your waist and not your chest.
Revenge of the Mummy
Men in Black Alien Attack
Harry Potter and Escape from Gringotts
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
They have lockers that are free to use for a short length of time or the duration of your ride. They are not vary large, 14 in. x 5.5 in. x 16.9 in. But they will fit a small backpack or sling bag. If you have a large backpack you'll need to pay for one of the larger lockers at 12 in. x 13 in. x 16.9 in. They usually charge $2 then $3 every $30 minutes. But if you have a lot of small items and many people with you scan each ticket to rent a few small lockers for free.
To rent a locker simply go to one of the kiosk screens with a green or yellow light. That means there are lockers available and the screen will tell you how many. Next choose your locker size then scan your park ticket. If you are renting a large locker you'll also need to scan a credit card. Now a locker will open for you to enter your belongings. MAKE SURE YOU KEEP YOUR TICKET. Keep it in your pocket, lanyard or in your fanny pack. REMEMBER your kiosk number and locker number. They all look the same so it's easy to get confused! When you are done riding head back to that kiosk and scan your ticket. Your locker should open up and you can grab your stuff.
Forget which locker is yours? (Don't worry I've been there!) There are always team members available and they'll ask you what was in your locker asking for descriptions and they can open it from the back side. They will will confirm the items then open it to you from the guest side.
