Oberammergau & Amadeus Cruises

Updated: Jul 11, 2021

In 1634 the people of Oberammergau, Bavaria, Germany started this play depicting Jesus' Passion as a Thank you to God. They had pledged that if God spared them from the plague that devastated the village, they would perform a play every 10 years depicting the life and death of Jesus. After this pledge, the village lost no more people to the plague. Oberammergau has been performed every 10 years every since.

It was supposed to be performed in 2020 but was delayed 2 years due to Covid-19. The play runs the whole year and is very popular. This is a very sought after event and many of the tickets are already sold out.
