Oga's Cantina - Black Spire’s infamous watering hole

Updated: Jan 10, 2020

With the opening of Galaxy’s Edge in both Disneyland and Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World, guests can step inside a cantina just as the one they’ve seen on screen in Star Wars.

Reservations are highly recommended, but you can try your luck that day to see if they can squeeze you in. Reservations can be made like any other Disney dining location with a credit card guarantee. When you arrive, you will be directed to wait in line under a row of umbrellas and Oga’s staff will hand you a menu to review and run down the rules of her establishment. Oga Garra, a ‘mob boss’ according to citizens of Batuu, owns the establishment which is powered by a hyperdrive.

Here are some of Oga’s rules:

  1. You will not be seated until your entire party arrives.

  2. You must stay where they place you in the cantina, if you move you may lose your spot. Enjoy your drinks, then wander around if you want to get a better look at the place.

  3. There is a 45-minute time limit

  4. Only 2 drinks per person

In both my experiences we were seated quickly but we were only a party of 2. Once our name was called, we stepped forward and followed Oga’s staff thru a mechanical sliding door into the cantina. The lighting is low and it’s crowded since reservations have been hard to come by since opening in August.

It’s not a very large space, but the atmosphere is VERY large. Circular in shape, there are booths around the edge but most of the space is standing room only with a row of high-top tables then spots at the bar. Both times I received a spot at the bar.

From outside the door you can hear the music playing but when you step inside you’re immediately on another planet! The atmosphere is fun with DJ R-3X spinning original tunes from around the galaxy. At one point the bartenders started a chant and then the entire cantina was chanting, it was an intergalactic party!

All the drinks are pre-made so you must order from the menu. There are no customized drinks. But they really went all out when designing the drinks, they are colorful and look amazing! I highly recommend looking around the entire cantina too. Look for the hyperdrive and some creatures who contribute to your drinks. A Worrt produces eggs for the Jabba Juice. The slug is for the Degobah Slug Slinger. The names of the items on the menu and the coasters were designed for fans of Star Wars.

The cantina is open all-day, so they have a breakfast menu which does include alcohol and a separate lounge or lunch and dinnertime menu. Available all day are drinks for younglings under the age of 21. Blue Bantha is a glass of the blue milk with a vanilla-butter sugar cookie (it does not contain the same frozen blue milk you will get at the milk stand).

There is not much food served, just a few snacks. For breakfast there is the Mustafarian Lava Roll and Rising Moon Overnight Oats. Then for the rest of the day there are Batuu Bits and Oga’s Obsession. I tried the Rising Moon Overnight Oats and they were great. It’s very light, a healthier option of oats, yogurt and fruit.

Now for the good stuff! I tried a few different drinks so here are my reviews:

  • Fuzzy Tauntaun - Ciroc Peach Vodka, Bols Peach Schnapps, Simply Orange topped withtangerine and pure cane sugar. The real kicker is the buzz foam which makes your mouth go numb! It feels a little strange but adds to the experience. The drink was good, sweet with a very strong fruit flavor. The orange juice made it more filling or heavier. I had this one twice, so I enjoyed it!

  • Bespin Fizz - Bacardi Superior Rum, Yuzu Puree, pomegranate juice, white cranberry juice and a Cloud Swirl. The drink fizzes and swirls the entire time you are drinking it. The pomegranate flavor was strong and not as sweet as the others. Of all the drinks I tried it was my least favorite, but my husband really liked it.

  • Jedi Mind Trick - Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit & Rose Vodka, John D. Taylor’s Velvet Falernum, Bols Blue Curaco, white grape juice, lime juice and grapefruit bitters. This was one of my other favorites. It doesn’t have a lot of flavor so if your looking for something lighter and not as sweet this if for you.

  • The Outer Rim - Patron Silver Tequila, Cedilla Acai Liqueur, lime juice, pure cane sugar topped with black salt and an exotic fruit puree. It’s very similar to a margarita with the salt rim and it wasn’t very sweet.

I didn’t try the Yub Nub but we almost ordered it just to take the glass home! It’s pricey at around $40 but the souvenir Endor cup is amazing.

They also serve beer and wine if you are not a liquor drinker. If you want to try all the beers on tap get the Rancor Beer Flight. It’s another souvenir costing around $70, but it’s served in shot glasses shaped like Rancor teeth! So cool!
