Disney announced that opening day for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be May 31, 2019 at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, CA and August 29, 2019 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, FL. If you’re planning to check out this historic addition to both parks, you will want to be aware of a few things.
Phase one will include opening of the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride, one of a kind food and beverage experiences, and brand-new Star Wars themed shops and merchandise. The height requirement for Smugglers Run is 38”.
If you are planning to visit Galaxy’s Edge, from May 31 – June 23, 2019 in Disneyland, you will need valid park admission and a reservation. The reservation is no-cost and availability will be limited. Guests who visit during this time who stay at one of Disney’s official on site resorts (Disney’s Grand California Hotel and Spa, Disneyland Hotel, or Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel) will be provided with a designated reservation to access Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge during their stay. Each registered guest will receive one reservation. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will not be available as part of the MaxPass service, and will not be available during Disneyland’s Extra Magic Hour or Magic Morning initially. More information regarding how a reservation can be made, will be forthcoming.
When Galaxy Edge opens at Walt Disney World, a reservation to visit will not be required. Valid park admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is required. There will be no FastPass+ availability for Smugglers Run, and capacity will be limited. All available attractions will be available during Extra Magic Hours to guests staying at an official Walt Disney World or qualifying Good Neighbor Resort that participates in the Extra Magic Hours program.
Phase Two of Star Wars: Galaxy Edge will be coming later in 2019. Official dates have not yet been announced, however we do know the opening will include the opening of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the most adventurous, advanced and immersive attraction ever imagineered!
It is highly recommended that guests planning to travel to Disneyland or Walt Disney World on or after opening day of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge book their resort stay well in advance. The agents at our sponsor, Coasters & Castles Travel look forward to working with new and existing clients to secure an opportunity to be amongst the first to visit Galaxy’s Edge.
