What is it like to spend Thanksgiving on the Sea?

Updated: Dec 27, 2023

Lisa Wainwright from Coasters & Castles Travel just returned from a 7 Night cruise on Carnival Mardi Gras with a group of friends. There were 20 of them and they all had a great trip! For this edition, Lisa reviews their cruise.

We spent 7 days on the Carnival Mardi Gras for Thanksgiving and we had a blast!

This is one of Carnival’s newest and largest ships and we really enjoyed ourselves. I tell people all the time that whether it’s Disney, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, or Carnival….. the ship is everything.

For our group of 20 MG was perfect! The food options were plenty. You could eat in the

Dining room at night or try the Italian and Mexican/Asian once complimentary.

For lunch there was an amazing panini sandwich place next to the Pizza shop and I think Tommy alone ate enough to make the cruise well worth it! Guys burgers was fantastic! Shaqs chicken was great. Tacos by the pool were 10/10. There were many other options too!

I could go for Thanksgiving food for dinner right now! The only bad part about being served Thanksgiving on a cruise is there’s no leftovers!

Our room was a balcony that had storage and a nice big vanity. It’s a standard cruise room. It's so light and pretty, I love the colors.

Drinks were amazing! The amount of bars and different drink options was impressive and I have zero complaints.

Nassau, Grand Turk, and Amber Cove were our ports and Amber Cove and Grand Turk were fabulous and I’d happily go again! We rented golf carts around GT and took advantage of the pool and zipline right at the port! It was perfect for our family of 4. Others in the group did waterfalls, monkeys, etc in Amber Cove and loved it!

We saw tons of shows, comedy , love and marriage, Family feud, and they were very entertaining. Waterslides, arcade, pools, putt putt, Bolt the rollercoaster, were added fun!

The service was great! The staff cleaned like nothing I’ve seen before! (They cleaned like it was Disney!) not an empty plate or cup would be left for long before someone came by to clean and mop! It was impressive!

The best part about this was spending time with my friends that we lived with for many years in Georgia. It’s like no time has passed when we’re together and I’m very grateful that we had such an amazing Thanksgiving 2023 trip.
